Snapshots from the Field

Watershed Center field crews have been working hard all summer long! Here are just a few snapshots from the past few months:

Botany Technicians have been conducting rare plant surveys in project areas to ensure we take precautions to protect sensitive species during implementation.

Forestry technicians have been cruising hundreds of acres of timber stands and preparing plots for sales.

Fuels Crew members have assisted the Cannabis Restoration division by hauling hundreds of pounds of waste and metals from private properties.

The Recreation Team has been improving trail tread, clearing fallen trees, and honing their masonry skills.

The Roads Crew has been repairing roads in fire footprints, increasing access to our forests for hunters, fuelwood gatherers, and recreators, as well as decreasing sediment to waterways.

Fisheries folks have successfully conducted another round of snorkel surveys throughout key Trinity River tributaries.

The Youth Backpacking Trip to Stoddard Lake brought fun, learning, and mentorship to five sixth grade boys from Hayfork and Hyampom.

Although not pictured here, the Wildlife crew has been working diligently across Six Rivers National Forest and Shasta-Trinity National Forest to document the presence and distribution of spotted owls!

It’s been a busy, productive season thus far and we can’t wait to share the results of some of our surveys and the impacts of our work in future blogs and social media posts.
