Focused on Forest Health
Reducing hazardous fuels and improving forest health are key objectives of the Forestry and Fuels Program. To this end, we provide a full range of forest management services from planning to implementation.
Forestry and Fuels Program projects run the gamut from landscape level forest thinning with machines to neighborhood fuels reduction hand work for defensible space - and our team provides all the technical work to make it happen.
The Forestry and Fuels Program is split into four Divisions:

Are you a landowner in Coffee Creek?
The Watershed Center is recruiting certain residents and landowners within a priority project area in Coffee Creek to begin the environmental compliance process in order to offer future fuels reduction treatments for private property at no cost. Completing environmental compliance now will allow for future treatments to reduce live or dead vegetation close to homes, driveways, roads, and other strategic areas across properties through manual chainsaw work and chipping.
To participate in this initial planning step, please fill out and return a Landowner Tenure Agreement by October 15th.
This document will allow WRTC to access your property for wildlife, archaeology, and botany surveys for environmental compliance and will not commit you to future implementation. After receiving this document, WRTC will seek funding from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy to meet environmental compliance requirements and contact you with more information regarding the proposed work if the grant is awarded in the Spring of 2027.
