Nick Goulette – Executive Co-Director

Born and raised in Maine and trained as a forester at the University of Vermont, Nick moved to California in 2004. Over the past 15 years, he has worked with the Watershed Center in Hayfork, taking over as Executive Director in 2009. He oversees programs focused on forestry, fire and fuels, watershed and fisheries, youth development, and natural resources policy. He operates at the local, statewide, and national scales to advance policies and practices that sustain rural communities and working landscapes. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Naomi, fishing, skiing, backpacking, and tending to their small homestead. Nick and his wife also own and operate a small business, Trinity Nursery, located in Weaverville, California.

Michelle Medley-Daniel – Executive Co-Director

Fire Adapted Communities Learning Network Director

Michelle has two roles at the Watershed Center. As Executive Co-Director, she is part of the team that steers and supports the strategic direction and operations of the organization. A Hayfork-local, she is proud to be contributing to the vitality of her hometown through her work at the Watershed Center. She also works as the Director of the Fire Adapted Communities Network. In this role, she works alongside partners at The Nature Conservancy to direct the operations of a national network of communities learning to live better with wildfire. In particular, Michelle’s focus is on working with State and regional efforts to launch network-based approaches to wildfire resilience. Michelle has a background in studio art and English, and has over fifteen years of experience coordinating networks and providing communications and development services to nonprofits. She enjoys backpacking, kayaking, local history, and connecting with people who are passionate about place.

Heather Jones - Administrative Director and Human Resources Manager

As Administrative Director and Human Resources Manager, Heather is responsible for budget and financial oversight, grant management and budgeting, human resources, support to program managers, and generally making everything go. She is a born and raised Hayforker who returned home after a 20-year hiatus. She is proud to be part of the Watershed Center team, and looks forward to supporting the organization in its efforts to invest in the land and community. Heather earned her associates degrees in liberal arts and business administration. She joined the Watershed Center in 2015 bringing over 15 years of administrative experience with her, including work as a senior benefits analyst. She enjoys jogging, working in her yard, and raising her kids in Trinity County.

Rachel Evans - Operations Director

As the Watershed Center’s Operations Director, Rachel focuses on financial management, policy, procedure development, and financial reporting. Rachel also works closely with project managers to help foster their NEPA and CEQA projects to ensure environmental compliance for the Watershed Center’s wide variety of projects from new trails to fuels management.

Rachel has over ten years of experience in business administration and over five years of experience as a project manager. She graduated from CSU Chico with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Rachel has lived in Hayfork since 2017 where she stays active within the community by volunteering with the Hayfork Rotary and Friends Enjoying Ewing Trails. She enjoys hiking, pottery, gardening, backpacking, and fishing.
