Clarke Stevenson - Forest Stewardship Specialist

As the Forest Stewardship Specialist, Clarke works across a variety of WRTC’s local, regional, and statewide programs, utilizing his expertise and skills to help project teams plan, fundraise for and execute complex projects. Much of his work focuses on increasing forest biomass utilization in the North Coast Region and across California, but he also supports projects for Forestry and Fuels, Fire Management, Regional Technical Services and Watershed Stewardship programs. Before WRTC, Clarke worked for an air district and bioenergy attorney, supporting state policy and program development to overcome barriers to wood utilization throughout the state. He holds a MS in Energy Technology and Policy from Cal Poly Humboldt and is based out of Arcata. In his free time, he likes to participate in the Humboldt Prescribed Burn Association, playing in the outdoors, and exploring all the fun community events Humboldt has to offer.

Martin Twer - Biomass Program Director

As Biomass Program Director, Martin works with State and local efforts that encourage forest biomass development, related policy, and economic opportunities. His first exposure to biomass utilization for energy came during a study-abroad year in Finland, and he has made a career out of bringing public awareness to biomass technologies and forest biomass projects. These include sustainable bioenergy, low-value wood products markets, as well as biochar production and utilization.

Martin was born and raised in Germany and graduated with a degree in Landscape Ecology before moving to Montana in 2002. He holds an MS degree in Resource Conservation and Forestry from the University of Montana and has completed course work for an MA in Economics. After 10 years as Bioenergy Associate Specialist with the Cooperative Extension Service in Montana, he now lives, works, and plays in the Sierra Nevada. He enjoys home remodeling, gardening, and explorations in nature.
